For this final blog post I will be talking about my experience in this class and how I improved throughout this class in photoshop and picture taking. The first day we got out our cameras I definitely didn't know how to do anything with it other than simply point it at something and take the picture. The pictures I took the first day were pretty terrible and didn't have any sort of structure in or composition. This were two of the first two pictures I ever took with a real camera and they obviously are not that good, but this is where I started. As the year went on and we took more notes and started to learn a little about how to actually take a photo, my pictures progressively got better the more I tried. I think during the photo composition assignment is when I really started to learn how to take a good photo with good features like, rule of thirds and depth of field. My pictures started to come together better and I could just see better what was a good picture and what wasn't. These were some of my best pictures out of the composition assignment and they are already much better, in my opinion, than my first pictures. Then eventually as the year went on and we started doing real photo assignments every, week I think my pictures took another step up because I started leaning how to use aperture and shutter speed to get a better picture. I think the weekly photo assignments are where my best pictures came from and I think this is where my photos started to actually be some what good. I think these were my best pictures from the entire class and I really think I came a long way from what my first pictures were when I took out the camera for the first time. Not only do I think I came a long way with my pictures, I think I came a long way in photoshop and how to navigate it. Coming into this class I had a little experience with photoshop just from random stuff I used to do on my computer but I defiantly didn't know as much as I do now. I got better with a lot of different things in photoshop like, the clone stamp tool and the different kinds of selectors and how to use my layers correctly. The cars were one of my first photoshop assignments and I think it was alright but I think it is a little sloppy on certain areas. The lightbulb was one of my last photoshop assignments and I think it was definitely my best. I really think the lightbulb one turned out really well and shows how far I came in photoshop throughout this class. Overall I liked this class a lot and think I learned a lot of useful things that I am going to be able to use in my real life when it comes to photography. I think I made a good change in how I take pictures from where I began and I think my photoshop skills have also improved as well.

For this photoshop assignment we have to do two different things. We had to do 3 visual puns and 2 visual dictionary pictures. The visual puns we put in two, maybe three, pictures together to create a pun. The visual dictionary, we had to take a word that we find or think would work well and create a picture that has the word and definition with 3 or 4 other pictures that go with the word we chose. Visual pun one, two and three Visual dictionary one and two
For photo assignment week 7 I chose to do shadows. I took 50 or more pictures of things trying to capture their shadow with light. The only thing I edited it on this picture on the left was the size of the image, I just cropped it in a little. The ISO is 100, the Aperture is 3.5, the shutter speed is 0.6 The hardest part of this assignment was getting the light to stay where I wanted it to, to get the right shadows and picture. I tried getting the shadows of my window and thought it looked cool with the moon light but the pictures just didn't come out that well.
This project we had to use the studio set up with the lights, and a natural light exposure with a bounce card to get our portrait photos. During this assignment I learned how to use lights effectively. In the studio I learned that there is two different lights to need make a good photo, you need a fill light that is dimmer on the other side of the brighter light to fill in his face on the other side with no shadows. I also learned how to make the background on these photos in photoshop which I kind of knew how to do but now I know how to do it a lot easier. For this weeks photo assignment I did black and white. I used some of my old pictures that I thought would look good in black and white. Aperture is 5.6, Shutter Speed is 1/1600, and ISO is 400 This weeks photo assignment I just decided to use black and white. I took some of my old pictures and turned them black and white because I thought these ones would look good in black and white. Overall I like my main picture and my extra ones and I like how they turned out in black and white.
For this assignment we were told to either use the links he gave us or go find our own links and do multiple photoshop tutorials that we find and try. I did two different tutorials I found online and follow them step by step to create these pictures. First we started with dash of color and a polaroid picture. The first two are my polaroid pictures and the second two are my dash of color pictures. These are the two tutorials I found online that I thought would be fun to try. The first one with the light bulb is my favorite out of the two because I think it looks better and cooler and was a little harder than the second one. The second one was a little challenging but I couldn't get it to look exactly how I wanted it to but I think it turned out pretty good either way. I liked doing this assignment a lo because it was fun to try new and challenging pictures that look this cool. I learned a lot of different tool and how to do the basics better while doing this assignment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnzGFtUevts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOYz669WNpU For our 5th photo assignment, I chose to do light painting. I did this in my basement with all the lights off and a flashlight. I used mostly pool balls because I thought they were a cool subject to focus the light on and I think they turned out pretty well. Shutter Speed is 10 seconds, Aperture is 4.5, and ISO is 100. The only thing I edited in the picture was I cropped the picture in a little to make it closer. This assignment was one of the harder ones I did because it took awhile for me to figure out the right settings to make it work and focus correctly. I also couldn't get the different colors to show up how I wanted them. It was fun trying different things with the objects and overall I like how they turned out.
For this assignment we were told to go out and get a 2 pictures with a wider background and then set up a tripod and take pictures of people in different positions in that background. We needed to have 5 pictures of different people in the photo and then we went into photoshop and learned how to use layer masking to get each person in the picture. This assignment was probably one of the hardest that I have done just because of how hard it was to get a picture with good lighting that would turn out well. We had trouble shooting pictures for the first two days because the camera has to be on manual so that it doesn't auto focus into different setting so the pictures and go over each other smoothly. By the final day of shooting we got the setting better and the pictures turned out much better. The photoshop part of the assignment was very helpful learning how to use layers and masking properly.
For week 4 of photo assignments I chose to do still life. I used mainly a fruit and a ukulele to capture still life. Aperture is 3.5, shutter speed is 1/60, and ISO is 800 The only things I changed from the original picture on the left was I cropped the image in more and I also used a clone stamp to take out the jacket in the top and the camera strap in the bottom left. The hardest part about shooting this assignment was getting the darker lighting I wanted for it. I took these photos in the middle of the day so I had to do some things to get the light I wanted and I also had to figure out the best way to use my camera in the dark.
In this assignment we were supposed to take a normal picture or panoramic of a space in the school or of the school or really anything we could edit. We were supposed to add something unexpected into the picture and change it around. I learned a lot about photoshop during this assignment because it made me find features i've never used before. I really thought this assignment was fun and creative but also taught me a lot about how to use the basics of photoshop.
